Combined expertise and powerful infrastructure

In the INQUBATOR project, four Fraunhofer Institutes are pooling their expertise in quantum hardware and software and working with industry partners to develop application-oriented use cases. The Fraunhofer Institutes are providing access to their powerful HPC and quantum computing infrastructure for the project, and there are no additional costs for project partners to use it.

Fraunhofer IAF

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF deals with topics at the interface between quantum hardware and software. The focus is on practical applications for hybrid quantum-classical algorithms. The institute has extensive prior experience in executing quantum algorithms on current quantum hardware.

Fraunhofer IAO

The Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO brings together expertise in its quantum computing working group in areas such as quantum machine learning and quantum simulation, as well as applications in chemistry and finance. In the Inqubator project, previous experience in quantum anomaly detection is being used to solve a use case in the field of cyberattack detection in collaboration with the Bundesdruckerei.

Fraunhofer IPA

With a focus on quantum-assisted machine learning and quantum simulation, the Quantum Computing Group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA investigates industry-relevant applications in order to support their transfer into broad industrial use at an early stage. The focus here is on the development and refinement of quantum algorithms, with particular attention paid to current advances in hardware.

Fraunhofer ITWM

The Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM stands for applied mathematics: modeling, simulation, optimization, and data analysis for industrial applications. With proven HPC and quantum computing experience, we work with industry partners to develop scalable methods and software that improve processes, ensure quality, and quickly transfer innovations to industry.
